Pin-up artist, watercolorist and comic artist.
Yerevan — the whole world.

My name is Anutka, and I work under the name AnutkaJPG. I’m a pin-up artist, a watercolorist and a comic artist.
My practice brings together original illustrations, comic pages and covers, commissions, digital art and traditional media. In my free time — and largely just for the joy of it — I teach watercolor painting to adult groups.
In pin-up illustration, line comes first for me. It doesn’t just outline a figure: movement, rhythm, character and an inner tension emerge from it, and the image slowly grows out of that tension. Through pose, silhouette, the direction of lines, color and detail, I try to convey not a particular story but a certain feeling or state.
That’s why almost every pin-up piece I make is autobiographical to some degree. It doesn’t mean I actually dress up as a bunny or copy the poses of the women in my drawings. Autobiography works here more like movement in dance: the body, motion and silhouette can express what is hard to put into words. My heroines carry my feelings, moods, strength, vulnerability, playfulness or inner tension — even if we look nothing alike.
Sensuality holds an important place in my art, but I like to keep it on the edge of desire without letting it slip into vulgarity. I’m drawn to a mix of playfulness, languor, confidence and a touch of theatricality. I turn to the aesthetics of classic pin-up, but try to use it to speak a contemporary visual language.
Alongside digital illustration, I work a lot in watercolor and ink. What draws me to watercolor is the physics of the medium itself: the way pigment spreads across wet paper, keeps its transparency, creates air and leaves room for chance. For me, watercolor sits right on the border between drawing and painting. It’s one of the most difficult media, because every gesture is both a conscious decision and a dialogue with water, paper and time. That tension between control and unpredictability is what makes watercolor alive.
I also work on comics — interior pages, characters and covers. My published projects include Danger Jane #1 and #2, and alongside them I’m developing my own comic stories. My work has been shown in group and festival exhibitions in Yerevan and New York. Whatever the format — pin-up, watercolor, comics or a quick sketch — I want an image to keep its living movement and convey a feeling before the viewer can put into words what they’ve just seen.
